To etch samples a puzzle we must often fix
What etchant we should mix
We have a book of standard ones
Of options there are tons
But for some strange reason someone thought
To make up their own they didn’t ought
So adapting a recipe they saw
Into glycerine lots of nitric acid they did pour
While deciding to speed up the etching wait
They sat it all on a heated plate
The thing was changing colour fast
But still no reaction from them past
Luckily I jumped in when I saw
before both were blasted out the door
