As I walked the castle grounds
There was a secret path I spied
There was a moment long ago
When someone here had cried
Someone for long lost love
Someone for messages from above
It led me down an icy path
That had once braved wrath
Someone had escaped this very mark
Someone for whom life had no spark
Someone who tarried a moment here
And was then impaled on a spear
Deep in the abbey
Lie the bones
The walls echo with its moans
Each day new melancholic tones
Alas the story ended here
Nobody now ever goes there
It has been overgrown with moss
Life and joy have been given a toss
