False Alarm Poem by Syed Ahmed Shah

False Alarm

I have stopped flying altogether;
every time I pass by a metal detector
The buzzer sets off a false alarm;
It takes a lot of effort on my part
To convince the security that
I have a bullet lodged in my heart
For years and the tissues around it
Have atrophied to form a rock hard shell.
Travelling is not worth the hassle;
So, I prefer to remain at home.

Amazing, how the world is scared
Of a small bullet
Even if it is buried
Deep inside a heart.
