Fate Poem by George Bernard Hough

Fate

The person you see is not he,
he, is the spark of humanity
which entered his body at birth,
deciding his lifetime worth.
Sometimes the evil holds sway
and enters the body that day.
But mostly it comes in a flood
that most human beings are good,
loving and caring for their fellow man,
giving him succour whenever they can.

No matter the parenting skills
spent on one who inherits these ills.
The path his soul takes is made,
when he leaves the wombs bosomy shade.
In childhood he shows no respect
as rules and control he`ll reject,
and like minded elders will treat
him to rules of the law of the street.
Living his life in his own selfish way
a way that means every other should pay.

He cares not how anyone feels
as their prized posessions he steals.
He treats other people with scorn
as he plies his trade night till morn.
Others lives have no value for him
who simply because of a whim
will take one, if he sees the need,
in order to fulfill his greed.
No laws of God, or man, he fears.
All reason falling on his deaf ears.

The time will come when he`s old
and no longer feeling so bold.
An outcast from the human race,
time nearing when he must face
his maker, who will ask him why?
He chose to live that life, not try
to care more for his fellow mate!
What he will say is, '`twas my fate'
But God`s reply in damming voice!
'Remember man I gave you choice'
