Feelings Poem by Patricia Denise Newman

Feelings

I'm walking along the well-trod path
that many walked before,
I feel their presence with me
as I walk along the shore.
A feeling of peace and quietude
descends upon my mind
as all that I have worried on
has now been left behind.
So many feet have passed this way
and looked upon this scene,
and did they think, as I do now
on all that might have been?
They too felt the summer sun,
the winter's cooling rain,
the autumn and the springtime
they will never see again.
Reflection on the days long past,
and the people come and gone,
I feel their friendly companionship
as I gently stroll along.
