Ferocious Enemy Poem by Nassy Fesharaki

Ferocious Enemy

Ferocious enemy

On that day, in summer
Rushed all of residents
Men, women, children
Everyone with drum.

They carried pans and pots,
And large bells, animals'…

Enemy had attacked
And sky was black!

The fruits and trees
Were covered under wings
And army of the foe,
It walked, hopped, and flew.

They attacked whatever
Came to sight, here, there,
All over, far, near.

I had to run, scared
Of eating, be eaten
By brutal insects.

I, the child of farmers,
Respected my parents
That ploughed with shovel
And flattened the earth
And watered…to harvest.

But ambush of locust,
By sudden wilderness
Was killing villagers.

Only tool for defense
Was running after them
With loud noise and anger.

In my mind will remain
That painting forever
Like carvings in old cave.
