Filling Silence Poem by Dakota Ellerton

Filling Silence

Filled with silence,
the world seemed to slow down.
A flickering flame,
danced on our skin.
My hands caressed your face,
as you ran your hands down my back.
We layed there,
falling deeper into each others eyes.
My hair fell on your face,
confiding my tears.
You parted my hair,
and before asking knew what I wanted to ask.
Still, you insisted on hearing me say it.
‘What’s wrong? ’.
My eyes seemed to have striken your heart,
as your face fell.
‘Do you really want to know that now? ’.
Your eyes, your blue eyes,
began to drown in a sea of hopelessness.
It’d consumed us both yet,
in such an embrace we were secure.
I could feel my heart racing,
I felt as though I was dying.
It was almost…
as if it weren’t real.
