Finally There Poem by Billy Loving

Finally There

Rating: 5.0

Onward through the mist
By its' dampness kissed
Light growing brighter in the sky
Cautiously drawing nigh
Solitary lighthouse my guide
Anticipating the end of my ride
So long we've been afloat
Still holding on to hope
Is she still here?
Nervous as we draw near
Dock beginning to take shape
From this prison of sadness, ready to escape
With her I belong
Her absence, it's been so long
Rapidly, we dock
Its' finality, such a shock
Hurriedly, I go ashore
Ready to ride the waves no more
Longest walk of my life, taking
Knocking hand begins shaking
Familiar voice calls from inside
As the fear begins to subside
Joyous greeting
Inside retreating
Anxiously, I sit
Not quite steady yet
So many times, this moment, I did rehearse
Her soothing voice begins to converse
