In the fires of our dreams,
we burn our desires away.
Among the ashes that we scatter
old and distant loves lay.
In the warmth of the raptures,
we hold our youth’s accolade
clinging to forgotten pleasures
we once used to seek.
We erase the traces
of conquests we wish we made
with removal of errant faces
from the corners of our mind.
We scatter them to the four winds
for now and all time
in the fires of our dreams,
we burn our desires away.

This is a well structured poem with the first and last stanzas providing a rather neat pair of poetic bookends to hold your words. I enjoy your theme of emotional spring cleaning. Something that we should all embark on at least once a year. Wise and well chosen words. Love, Allie ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥
And then there are times when we can't forget the dream or the passion or the face that once was dear. Awesome write David.
Gosh David! I think you must have swallowed a magical poetry pill as I think your dreams have all taken off like this poem! Once again such amazing insight and depth to your work. 10 Karin Anderson
