First Cut Poem by Thabani Khumalo

First Cut

Wise men say,
‘Only fools rush it.’
Rushing engenders very unnecessary cuts;
I am wary! –
First cut is the deepest.
Rather let incidents be
The accidents of nature because,
Only nature knows where they best fit.
