Fitting In Poem by Alex Lane

Fitting In

I'm standing on the edge of the earth
alone as it seems
but seven billion stand behind me
like shadows of my dreams
the rolling clouds of grey push away
revealing the sky blue
as the world chants truth
and with the song of the angels sung
and with everyone set free
and with the light moving forth
and you with me

we are free from darkness
Satan's back in hell
moving old to new
makes me want to yell
"We are on our own but glad
we are lost but happy
solitary but not sad
we may be alone but we are free! "

I believe in heaven
I believe in hell
I believe in chance and choice
I also believe in us as well

the storm is raging outside my door
I'm fighting the pain down
I'm climbing the rope
towards the crown of hope
I broke away from those who hurt me
I went to those who trust me
I tried to play their game
but their game played me

"We are on our own but glad
we are lost but happy
solitary but not sad
we may be alone but we are free! "

with the blood spilt and the darkness gone
I look at you and sing your song

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
This is about moving from a social group of people who I would rightly say saw themselves as a gang, who decided to beat me up because I defended a girl's feelings. Afterwards I found new friends who shared my moral standpoint.
