Flight Poem by Owen Bittner

Flight

Darkness – void of sound, pain,
and motion; a tranquil ethereal chill
has infiltrated from within,
not one of temperature but from
when something just
is not right

Trembling – overpowering and
violent – undermines me. I try to move
my body will not respond;
slowly I am aware of a radiance,
shapes hover over me
focus is elusive

Voice – soft of studied empathy
and ambiguous dissociation recites
“You were in an accident…
you are on LifeFlight…
Stay with us….”

I return to Darkness.
