Flower Has A Life Of Her Own

Rating: 5.0

Flower Has a Life of Her Own

From the point of view of science
Flower is a devise of the plant
To pass on its genes
To the next generation.

But it is not all.
Flower has a life of her own.
From the state of a cocooned bud,
She provides immense pleasure
To the eyes of the beholders.

And the fragrance
That makes the world
A better place to live.

Keeps a treasure
Of nectar for her guests.
No wonder,
For sheis the offspring
Of Goddess of Spring.
Not just that!
She gives up her life
To provide a delicious gift
To the fellow beings
And progeny for the mother-plant.

Wow! What a fruitful life!

COMMENTS OF THE POEM

A wonderful metaphorical poem beautifully crafted and well executed. The striking title drew me to read this marvelous write and the mixture of science with it makes more beautiful. Yes, a flower indeed has a fruitful life. It gives unconditional love. Always a giver. A magnificent piece.10

Part 3 In Sanskrit Poetry, the is a figure of speech called Rupaka Atishayokti, which is defined as nigeerya adhyavasaanam, meaning, concealing the actual subject totally, from beginning to the end. I have tried this here. Extremely happy that you could read it into this poem. Thank you.

Hi Rose Marie, Thank you for the wonderful appreciation. Your words make my day. I had intended the poem as a metaphorical statement, to invoke selflessness in the readers. Had hoped that the readers, at least some of them, would draw the metaphor in it, totally concealed though. I waited for the comments from the readers to see whether anybody would read it the way it was intended. So I kept silent, until Kumarmoni Mahakul mentioned it. (continued)

It is an outstanding poem on flower having an impressive inscription on a metaphorical base. The life of a flower has been viewed from a scientific outlook here nicely. I like to quote...... For sheis the offspring Of Goddess of Spring. Not just that! She gives up her life To provide a delicious gift To the fellow beings And progeny for the mother-plant. Thank u dear E S for sharing this gem.10

Thank you Kumarmani sir. This poem is a tribute to all those who lead a selfless life, like Mother Teresa, Mahatma Gandhi etc., who forfeited their pleasures and their life itself for the benefit of the mankind. Therefore we are, Sir! Humbled by your appreciation. Obliged.

well- flowers are compared to woman - great metaphor but they keeps sorrows in its life- They keeps their virginity till a bee or butterfly come in or otherwise we pluck down with our naughty tough hand.. If it fell down nobody cares them- is it not a paradox? well penned. ad my 10 .
