For a time, we part
Leaving the “us” behind
Going our separate ways,
But only for a little time.
For a time, we part
Each moment on our own
With all that it brings
Remembering we’re not alone.
For a space, we pause
On the journey we’ve had
Taking a breath to remember
The hellos, the tears, and the laughs.
For a space, we pause
You going where I’ll follow
After I’ve walked some more
Down through the burrows and hollow.
For a time, we part.
As the sun sets only to rise
We will be someday together
As dawn brings new life to our eyes.
For a time, we part
Giving the night its power
To heal, refresh, and renew
Until our dawn greeting hour
Brings us back together… me and you.
