For As Long
For as long as I do have a functioning brain
Memories stored from life I am bound to retain
And as memory goes what goes for one goes for all
Our good and bad memories are ours to recall
Learning does not end as we grow old and gray
From life we do learn something new every day
We learn from life 'til the day we die
And that does apply to all as well as you and I
For as long as my memory is free of decay
Events of the past with me destined to stay
The great gift of memory our past re-create
Such a marvellous gift we should appreciate
For as long as I do have a functioning brain
The past I will visit again and again.
