For Her Alone Poem by Joyce Hemsley

For Her Alone

Fictional:

Eyes that once gazed into mine
Hands that reached for love
The fairest smile in all the land
Sent from heaven above.
Her charm meant everything to me
But alas away she flew
So in love with an officer bold
Whatever could I do?

With sadness and humility
I watched her passing by
If only she would turn and smile
Oh ~ a languishing fool was I.
For love that once belonged to me
Would never again be mine
Now a hundred secret teardrops flow
As for her alone I pine.
