For This Land An Glory Poem by Donald R Wolff JR

For This Land An Glory

Join earth an fire with wind from bellow
Labor on through the chill of eventide
Forgotten ages were consumed by liquid fire
A pooling glow revisits a memory lost in time

The hammers swung to forge the soft orange metal
Their eyes glow as shadows dance beyond the firelight
Next dawn will sound the marching horn
A new age has brought men to a fight

No God shall hear a mother's prayer
Young boys will scream insane from a piercing blade
Red soil shall cover this fertile land
A hell on Earth to make their claim

In time the dead will remain beneath, in silence
The land once loved will ever change
A town rises from the blood soaked landscape
Built upon the bones of countless graves

Here is where the glory became tallied
Both clans don't believe they never gained
History left scribes that became their jubilation
One of many honors in-place of shame

The dead are dead, for them it's over
The broken hearts were stilled forevermore
They murdered for their God and Glory
In name and nothing more

Here is the tale of a Scotland town
You heard this story once before
When people believe in what they need
They answer need, with war
