For You Poem by Ben Coomer

For You

the mat burns the skin
my calised knees begin to fail
what reasons do i have to go on?
but i continue to fight
through the blood and the sweat
that seem to weigh more than each second before
because of you
i will fight for you

as my body is scorched by the sun
the dessert sand flows through the streets
my body is weak
but i keep going
i fight for you
i feel the steel burn through my chest
i accept the warm blood that escapes my body
but the pain is to extreme to bear alone
but i keep fighting
on my knees i pull the trigger until
click... empty
i am surrounded by men
i feel hundreds of bullets penetrate my skin
but for each stabbing pain there is a pounding joy
as i lay dying in the red sand
all i leave behind is an empty shell
and a smile
i died for you
