Forlorn Poem by Eudora M.A.S.S.A.

Forlorn

Note:
This poem has a sequel entitled, 'The Garden'

I walked along the garden's path
Where the flowers bloomed in spring
Where we once walked hand in hand
Listening to the robins sing…

The velvet grass beneath our feet
Glistened with the morning's dew.
The path led to the garden
Where beautiful roses grew…

This garden was my passion
The refuge where I'd hide…
And when each flower bloomed
My face would beam with pride

It's winter now, and you are gone
The garden in disrepair
All my work has slowly died
For you're no longer there.

The leaves have left the weakened trees
The wind swirling them around
I thought I heard a plaintive sigh
As they drifted to the ground.

Snowflakes are softly falling
The moonlight reflects their glow
Sparkling like crystal gems
As they blanket your grave below

Tearfully, I kneel and say a prayer
As I look at the sky above
Rest in peace, my darling
My one and only love…
