Unconfined having total independence
Imprisoned or enslaved not anymore
Broken loose from authorities
Who'd tie me down in chains
Without knowledge of knowing how to abstain
Stripped me bare and whipped me raw
Today I'm stronger because of the past
History taught one to overcome
what seems impossible
Look to the stars and find my own
Paving way for youth to understand
Yet not understanding the true nature
That brought about freedom
Only they must continue the path
To be respected as an individual race
And bring about change to the mindset
Of others who cast us off as inhuman
Let not the past make you
But break a curse upon us
