Free Of Your Antics? Poem by Jennifer Sol

Free Of Your Antics?

Were you expecting a reward?
Did you honestly think…
That what you did was acceptable?
Perhaps you had a thank you in mind?

Do I have to be your prison warden?
Do you expect me to fix your every problem?
I won’t always be there, you know…
I can’t do that just for you, I can’t

That is their only daughter and
You’re surprised they don’t worship
The very ground you walk on?
What you did…was inexcusable

Every time something goes wrong
You come running to me
What will you do when I’m not here?
Do you think I’ll dropp everything for you?

Why did you do it?
I am deeply disappointed in you.
My respect for you is gone
What made you do it?

You’re fourteen, you have plenty
Of time to discover that which you have
So roughly dived into, abusing it’s wonder
You should be ashamed of yourself

And just like that you worm your way
Back into my heart with a heartfelt apology
You’re like a little brother to me
I can’t help but to save you from yourself

Will I ever be free of your antics?
