Freedom Inside Poem by Michael P. Johnson

Freedom Inside

Watching the world parade below
Faces and thoughts unknown
Rivers of sin in constant flow
Yet God is on His throne

While God is King and living Lord
Creation’s at His feet
Satanic ways are still adored
By people on the street

Looking between these window bars
Praying within my cell
I see the lost inside their cars
Driving the road to hell

The same I’ve travelled oft before
Festooned with life’s debris
Till Jesus knocked upon this door
And set my spirit free

Accepting Christ God’s Living word
My eyes have open wide
Still prisoner, yet like a bird
I’m free to fly outside

So full of joy and yet I cry
At peace, yet sad within
While those considered free still die
In robes of wanton sin

Praise God such things are in the past
No longer Satan’s fool
I serve The Father First & Last
Since Jesus came to rule

So now within this jail I pray
For those in sin without
That they like me be free one day
Their grateful praise to shout
