friends are there, there for life
they help you when you get in strife
they are there when you are sad
they make life seem not so bad
when you are happy they share your joy
with your feelings they never do toy
when you are hurt they show they care
even when others wouldn't even dare
when you have done wrong, they do not judge
by your side they stand, never will they budge
when you have problems they are there
to listen and for you to share
when you are lonely they are near
friends like this are very, very dear
but friends i do not mean
for only one is like this as far as can be seen
and that is true
because that friend is you
