From 'ephron 6

'How do you get it'?

'Not sure. It has something to do with plucking'.

'Plucking what'?

'Well, eyebrows. What else'.
I didn't know. Eyebrow plucking is common. of course. It's a process undertaken by many women and some men for its appearance-enhancing effects, as they so believe. There's a market for it. Significant amounts of money are paid for 'the perfect brow. But I never heard it linked with sickness, of any kind.

'I don't understand', I said. 'You mean she got ill from plucking her eyebrows'?

'Exactly'.

'Bellam, are you sure'?

'Very. That's what they said in the ER, anyway'.

'And that's how she got the bacteria'?

'Yep. The resident told us'.

'I see. What hospital was this'?

'You know. It's famous', said Bellam, gravely.

'Not- '

'Uh-huh'.

'You're kidding'!

'Not at all. You still don't believe me'.

You mean the one in Boston'?

'Yes. We were there on vacation'.

I was truly doubtful, now. Nobody vacations in Boston.

'Well, it all sounds odd'.

'It's not. And she's getting better. She's just weak'.

'But still in'?

'Yeh. Another week and she's home'.

'And, that's why you can't visit your father in Reno'?

'That's the reason, yep'.
