Frozen Wasteland Poem by Brittany Marsh

Frozen Wasteland

How can I take these nights without you?
These sleepless nights
These lonely nights
My love, this blade does me no good
What's it like to face such happiness?
My cold, dark heart knows only snow and ice
Drowning among the thirty below
I see your face
And remember
I once faced that happiness
In my wishful dreaming
This frozen wasteland feels perfect
Lonliness shares my home
Death shares my bed
Memories of a life once lived
Now crumpled and frozen
In my right hand
Reminders
So
Constant
It's nearly suicidal to push them away
Nearly homicidal to keep them close
Hiding away from the world
Is normal and only natural
When you're someone like me
Hated by
Friends, lovers, acquaintences, and enemies
Loved by
Nobody
