Futile Desperation Poem by Dr John Celes

Futile Desperation

Rating: 3.5

I tried to change the world,
But I could not;
I tried to change myself,
A life-time sped;
I tried to do much good,
But hurdles came;
I tried to shun evil,
But I was weak;
I tried to turn a saint,
It wasn't easy;
I tried to ape the world,
Heart didn't permit;
I try to make amends,
But time seems lost;
I cry within my heart,
‘God save my soul! '
