Gates Of Heaven Poem by Christopher Forrister

Gates Of Heaven

The tattered page turns...
blank as the silence before the coming storm
The pen is raised and another chapter unfolds..
Look now upon a scene so real
you could swear you were there before
A normal street like any other
bustling with life
Horns beep into the coming dusk
as vendors shout thier wares
The sweet sound of John Lennon rides the wind
searching for those who can imagine
Chava hears..
she dreams..
if only it could be
One breath, one life, one sacrifice...
Inhale...
Death is near...
Just turned 16 last week
the gates of heaven await
exhale...
Screams..
all they will remember
erased by the ringing of the fireball
the street where hell reigns
where fire burns..
and life has no meaning
to the lifeless
one breath, one life, one light...
Inhale..
just turned 16 last week..
Chava extinguished
as nine souls await
the gates of heaven....
(Chava meas life in hebrew)
