Geelong Poem by Francis Duggan

Geelong

A place that is honoured in story and song
Victoria's largest Rural City of famed old Geelong
It's Australian Rules Football Club is known far and wide
And Geelong football fans on their footballers take pride,
'We are Geelong' that old song is well known
The Geelong fans anthem for to cheer on their own
The huge roar of the fans for each Geelong goal and mark
Can be heard for some distance from Cardinia Park,
From Geelong City centre the sea is not far
A fifteen minute walk one need not take a car
But there is more to Geelong that even meets the eye
In it's beautiful Parklands with the ocean nearby
The magpie lark all day long is singing pee wee
And the silver gulls call in their home by the sea.
