Gentle Poem by Nicole Baker

Gentle

Rating: 5.0

I closed my eyes as I lay back against his chest, feeling his arms wrap around my body.
I felt safe, somehow knowing that he wouldn't let me go
We sit entwined underneath that cherry blossom tree on top of the hill where we first met 6 years ago.
I have never looked back
And neither had he so he says
And I believe him
He's my lifeline, my rock, my best friend and my soul mate.

His touch makes me tremble
His kiss is so familiar yet every time is a new experience
His smile lights up his whole face, stretching from ear to ear
I love to watch his eyes light up, sparkling in the sunlight when he's happy and glinting in the shadows when he's thinking
The way his whispers into my ear makes my knees go weak
And the way we make love together is like we were born to be with each other, the last pieces of a jigsaw puzzle
Yin and Yang
It's the way we are

People look at him and immediately judge him
They see the tattoo's and think he's been behind bars
They look at his hairstyle and wonder why he styles it that way
They glance at his clothing and ponder if he is gay
I know the real him, the gentle loving side that only seems to come out when I am around
He's kind, comforting and worries about other people more than himself
When he lifts me up into the air, he makes me feel as light as a feather as he spins me around on the spot
He says he only does that to hear my squeals and my laughter

I love to tickle his sides and watch him squirm with joy
I love to cuddles close to him and listen to the beat of his heart as I lay my head on his chest
I love to watch him sleep, watching his eyelashes flutter softly against his skin
And I love to kiss him on his plush, rose bud lips.

'It's time to go home' he murmurs, bringing me out of my daydream
He picks me up with such ease and wraps one arm around my waist to support me as I am drowsy
'Home' I whisper, smiling up towards him as he kisses my nose
'Yes home silly' he smiles back 'Where you belong with me'
I'll return home to you one day my love.

I promise
