Gentle Fall Poem by Hm. Nes

Gentle Fall

Gentle fall,
If only you would linger,
Hold your place and face the winter.
Summer's heat
Yields gladly to your tender
Ways: fresh buds, cool breeze, and splendid
Colored leaves,
Gliding softly to the earth-
Lush carpeted, springs with new birth.
You could be
The most beloved season-
My favorite; so, must you go then,
Transient one,
Too quickly giving in to
Longer nights and winter's wind? Do
Stay! Hold on!
Let me be your biggest fan!
I'll see that others understand:
Only fall
Can battle forth and parry
Winter. Fall's the season to adore!
But (long sigh)
Because you will not tarry,
I cannot help but love spring more.
