©getting Over You Poem by Bandile Matsenjwa

©getting Over You

Getting over you was the hardest decision I had to make,
But to be happy again it was a step I had to take,
I would sleep most of the day away,
Anything was better than having reality stare you in your face while you are awake,

Didn't want to realize you'll never be mine,
For some reason in my eyes you were the light that shined,
I regret the day I fell in love with you,
All the cute and silly things you do,
You made me feel like a fool,

A fool for only wanting to give myself only to you,
Allowing no one else in,
All I have left is the ones closest of kin and my best friend,
You have placed a shadow over my heart,
Now the pit of my soul is nothing but dark,

You took the glow from within,
I feel so bad as if to love is a sin,
But that's when I have to turn to the person within,
When I can call on no one else to be a friend,
It was a web of deceit,
But as well as I know what you sow you will reap,

Getting over you is the best thing I could ever do,
So I dry my eyes and say goodbye to you.
