Gingerbread Man Poem by Brandi Guthrie

Gingerbread Man

Rating: 4.8

You follow naive and blind to the lies they spread.
You mind your manners and swallow what they`ve said.
They will narrow your options til you`re too tied to choose.
And after the devastation clears, who will you stand to lose?
You absorb media sound bites conditioned for your consumption.
Do you think they have you in mind when they make their assumptions?
There are men among you who want you trodden beneath their feet.
And they justify their deceptions claiming defense, so clean and neat.
How can you function freely so sheltered and spoon fed
With explainations and reasonings not born of your own head?
If thinking for yourself were a crime... well it might as well be.
But I am the gingerbread man and they will never catch me.

This poem is right up my street Brandi! I rarely believe what the media have to say because most of it is hyped up... from politicians (the salespeople of the world!) to TV Adverts with must buy products... everything is used to make you think or believe in a false world... and look at something from their perspective only. The superb Gingerbread Man line at the end is brilliant... The Fugitive out there, police in chase perhaps... but they'll never catch the elusive shadow of him and real thoughts of mankind. Great thought provoking and truthful poem. Dale :)

Clever poem that sounds like a large dose of gradual brainwashing and manipulation by the state. Sometimes it's as subtle as your nanny state that over legislates supposedly for your good but in the long run diminishes your freedom to exercise free will.
