Give God A Chance Poem by Michael P. Johnson

Give God A Chance

You’ve troubled thoughts, life’s passing by
In deep distress you wish to die
Perhaps it’s happened all before
Christ; is knocking at your door

You falter round as though you’re blind
Can’t sleep for troubled mind
Yet Christ can melt a heart of stone
And comfort those alone

Are you certain there’s no one there?
Do you believe He wouldn’t care?
Or full of doubt that God is true?
Ask Christ now to come to you

The way to God is though His Son
Regardless all the filth we’ve done
Yet only those who sin repent
Receive the promise Heaven sent

The Lord is true, believe and stand
Seek Him now whilst yet at hand
He purge your soul of shameful sin
Bid God’s Flame to burn within

The blind who think that Christ’s a lie
Need but come and let Him try
Allow God’s Son to set you free
The truth then too you’ll surely see

When still in doubt if Christ is true
There’s but one thing you need to do
Whisper “Lord please give me sight
Send to me your Guiding Light”

A humble heart on bended knee
The Lord can lead to victory
Pray for Truth to dwell inside
Whisper “Jesus, be my Guide”.
