God Poem by Morgan Michaels

God

Oh, God,
stuck in your heaven
with all due respect
how many times
how many times more
must we hear
Nat King Cole singing
'Chestnuts Roasting On An Open Fire'
Wouldn't it be ok to skip a year?
Just this once?
Oh dear God
loath to leave your heaven
how many more Bohemes?
sure it's pretty. And sad. Really,
some think it better than House;
and my taste for Puccini is practically boundless, but...
isn't there some new lyric? Some new opera?
we might stir to?
Just this once?
