God Forbids..... Poem by RIC BASTASA

today
my classmates in high school
are chatting

i just listen to what
they are talking about

the telenovela in TV
and how the show had to stop

for a while because the actors
cannot go on taping
the next episode

all of them have to be
quarantined to avoid the
corona virus infection,

on the other hand, i am
glad, that they are not talking
about the medicines for
hypertension, diabetes or
about the mechanics of
kidney dialysis,

we're in our fifties and
i guess we are not that old enough
to be talking about sickness
and coping up with existential crisis
anxieties, mental issues,
or, God forbid,
death.
