God’s Family Poem by Michael P. Johnson

God’s Family

We’re saved by grace and called to stand
As Jesus’ chosen few
Yet some would rise with sword in hand
Against a brother Jew

Crying like fools “They killed The Lord”
“Of life they’ll take no part”
Whilst “all” mankind have borne the sword
And pierced Jesus’ heart

We all have sinned and fallen short
We all have disobeyed
We all have doubted Christ’s report
And full of shame have strayed

Our God had Jesus crucified!
The Lord on Heaven’s throne
That Christ on earth be glorified
To heal our hearts of stone

Jesus a Jew bore all our sin
A Jew yet God’s true Son
A Jew without yet God within
Through whom life’s fight is won

From those entrusted with The Word
In whom God’s Lamb was born
Came Truth and Light we’ve seen and heard
Bringing Salvation’s dawn

Were Mathew, Mark and Luke not Jews?
Weren’t Peter John and Paul?
Do these not speak to church filled pews?
To hearts who’ve heard The Call

When to these facts we humbly bow
When truly born anew
Then Abraham’s our father now
And Jews are family too
