God’s Light Is On Poem by Michael P. Johnson

God’s Light Is On

Although life’s war is far from won
Although Christ’s cloud draws near
Yet in my house God’s Light is on
And I’ve no need to fear

Christ truth has dawned His love is mine
I’ve drank from Heaven’s Spring
Since grafted firmly in The Vine
Life’s brand new song I sing

Though battles come and conflicts rise
Demonic hoards persist
Through traps and snares through diverse lies
Obedience can resist

Obedience to The living Lord
The King of kings on high
To Him alone belongs my sword
Until the day I die

Until my Saviour’s final call
Until my day of rest
The devil’s hoards may spit their gall
But I’ll be more than blest

I’ll stand and watch world wisdom boast
I’ll watch the proud walk tall
Then in true strength of Jesus’ Ghost
I’ll stand and watch them fall

Then I’ll arise with God’s true Son
I’ll eat of Heaven’s fare
And with death’s sting long dead and gone
Eternal life I’ll share

So live to serve with joy or pain
Regardless peace or war
To live is Christ and death is gain
Both sides of Heaven’s Door
