This world is like a smelting pot
Assessment of the land
God’s test for truth, for evil’s rot
His sifting of the sand
God’s search for those who yet would turn
The lost, within a maze
Who’ll seek His face, who wish to learn
The wisdom of His ways
Who cast off sin and foolish pride
Who humble flesh and soul
Who bid His Christ to dwell inside
His Son to make them whole
A mountain top a valley quest
His touch of staff and rod
In many ways this life’s a test
To see who love their God
Whose heart is not for sinful lust
Whose hope’s not worldly gain
Whose selfish thoughts have turned to dust
Whose life’s devoid of stain
Who when they see another’s need
Will never pass them by
But visit, clothe, assist and feed
God’s Son to glorify
A whisper, touch, a taste, a smile
A hint of Jesus’ quest
Alone the future soon can tell
Who’ll pass the Father’s test?
Within His house, the tests will start
Where else would God begin?
Allow His Flame inside your heart
Purge clean of every sin
