Good-Bye For Now Poem by Samantha Rak

Good-Bye For Now

Rating: 5.0

Good-bye for now
Until you realize
That what you've been looking for
Is right here
Who you've been searching for
Is wiping her tears away
She walks away
Turning slowly
Hoping you'd stop her
But you just smile
Happy in the moment
Not noticing her fade away
The smiles she kept just for you
Falling away into oblivion
The heart she handed to you
Dropping from your fingers
Forgotten
Torn to shreds
And yet you still do not notice her!
She was there
Always!
And you went for the one who hurt you before
When the one who was there only wanted to heal!
You say she is unforgettable
And yet you aren't speaking with her
You say she was a dove among crows
But you've used that line before
How many false words must you enunciate before she loses her mind?
How long until you realize that you were wrong?
Wrong about the choice you made
Wrong about the words you spoke
The stories you told
She laughed for you
She grieved for you
She was there to listen when no others were
And yet you've dropped her
Like a forgotten toy
So goodbye for now
When you finally  see what you've lost
She will already be gone

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
I wrote this poem with a broken heart, I don't know if it shows for you but it does for me. A couple days ago one of my best friends got back together with his ex, leaving me hurt and confused. Before I knew that he'd liked me and he knew full well how much I liked him. But we didn't do anything because he's three years older than me and leaving for the military in August. I hope my pain inspires you guys to go forward and write the best you can and I hope none of you have to go through what I have. Much love, cheers.
