Goodbye Poem by Mehrdad Dadkhah

long, indeed, long has passed, yet all seem too short.
How I can feel my soul still begging for more.
long may pass for my eyes to get brighten again by you, my mate.
this cruel wind has already taken your scent away.

I recall our laughter, our tears, our victories, and our fails

a goodbye, i've never wished for and yet you are leaving me behind in dismay.
How sad it is my mate, I am forgetting my lines. They don't seem to come. They elude me with distain in eyes.

My friends! tell me, is this the ending chapter of ours?
Has the fate forgotten what it once had promised us?

I can hear my heart beating out of my chest. I can feel it struggle, pleading you to stay.
yet I see my hand letting go of yours in despair
and my steps lagging behind for yours to move away.

this poem I wrote in agonizing sorrow, all alone. The pain was my pen and the tears were the ink I borrowed.

oh my little shadow, will you long for them once they are gone?
will you fade you poor unfortunate soul of mine if they don't wave their hands just like mine? (as many times as mine)

the dream I had, may now never come true
you decided to go while I stayed.
This sealed our path apart and the fate unrestrained

I know my mind, they are leaving me behind. I know my mind, they all said that I'll be fine.
but I know that I am not, for the first time, 'ok'.
for I miss the man and the girl that I loved so dear
for I fear that our paths forever remain far far away

So farewell, my dear ones, for now, we must part
But know that you'll always hold a piece of my heart
I'll be sure to cherish our memories, and treasure our time
Just know in my soul, your love will forever shine.
and I'll carry you with me, wherever I may roam
For in my heart, you'll always have a home
