Goodbye Professor Poem by Hannington Mumo

Goodbye Professor

(THIS POEM IS IN MEMORY OF THE INIMITABLE PROFESSOR OF MATHEMATICS, GEORGE KINUTHIA SAITOTI)

They say that it is God who gives,
And that He is paid when man receives;
That it is our duty to enjoy,
For this is the only way to obey!

Great professor, who explored all in life there is,
May your learned soul rest in interminable peace;
May you find respite from the gigantic books you perused,
And may the young inherit the ideas you so keenly enthused.

I know not what lies beyond this fleeting breath
But I wish you a buoyant afterlife health,
That you will somehow enjoy the peaceful repose,
And that you will find the things that in life you chose.

Every atom of this early life will miss you,
The schooled cadre that belongs to few,
Shall eternally mourn your exit;
Only the One Eternal can comfort it.

It's painful that all life must die.
Great Professor, I bid you goodbye!
Rest in peace beneath the tranquil sky!
