Goodbye To Language Poem by Jeff Wrubel

Goodbye To Language

Language is the first art you learn
Symbols for the silent films
Inflection paints the sets
The Cinematography
Sentence the framework of idea
The Choreography
Some speak only for utility
Others don't and fear futility
Words cannot convey
the moments held within
that seed the twisted actions
That can't be bought with words

Language is the first art you learn
When it fails you,
It will
Other forms of art can burn
your soul into the smoke of truth
But for that there are none
No words that I can tell you
Artistry is within you
Dance the way you need to
Drinking is discipline
There is artistry in drug use
The art of escapism isn't bold
It's monochrome
The colors of the cold
Don't run
Wait for the pain to unfold
Make tools
That shape the story to be told
But it's life that is the artist
You are the canvas
The tool that will be used
To paint the story of you
