Gossamer Wings Poem by Doris Cornago

Gossamer Wings

Rating: 5.0

When
You are with
Me minutes fly
Gossamer wings
Like fairies flickering
Caught in the moment
Between past & present
Swinging by in seesaws
Uncaring, minutes ticking
Minimizing in miniscules
Mirroring your reflections
Smiling back at sorrow
Reduction of defaults
We're past the point
Of ever returning
Cast off sails
Fellowship
Flounder
Flare

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
Love is timeless. It's easy to get lost in one another. Being in love is like a one-way trip to space. You wish you'll never again return to earth. The fragility and beauty of each moment spent together seem like gossamer wings. A particular family depicting this feature are Gossamer-Winged butterflies because their wings, like the fabric, generally appear delicate and shimmery. Their wings are covered both by pigmented scales and by light-refracting scales.
