Gracious In Defeat Poem by David Harris

Gracious In Defeat

Rating: 5.0

There are times when love goes bad
and there is no way
to repair the unrepairable.
You feel that giving is a sign of defeat.
However sometimes
it is far better for all concerned
to live and let go
and become gracious in defeat.
Prolonging the agony no more,
walking away to start a new
and make a new beginning somewhere.
The more you hang on
to something that isn’t there
the more hurt you feel
and the pain is more severe.
Just walk away head held high,
become gracious in defeat
rather than suffer the tears
you would eventually cry.
