Grateful Poem by Belle Violet

Grateful

Today I am grateful
for the man who showed me the world.
For his smoldering blue eyes that reflected this girl.
For his love and his kindness
for his infallible drive.
I am grateful for the memories
he gave me.
I am grateful for his heart
and for his smarts.
I am grateful for his sunshine to my dark.
I am grateful he understood me,
loved and protected me.
I am grateful for the love
that he showed our babies.
I am grateful
for his family.
I am grateful for his arms
and his way of disarming.
I am grateful for the kisses
from a man so unbelievably
charming.
I am grateful for the work he put in
and grateful he let me
love the soul deep in him.
I am grateful for his strength
and his courage
for his words, and,
I am grateful he taught me to believe in me.
To see the girl
I could be.
I am grateful he showed me
how much he needed me.
I am grateful he let down his guard
that he let me
into his heart.
I am grateful for his sweetness
and our thousands of love notes
I am grateful for his ability
to let his love show.
I am grateful for his passion
and romance
I am grateful I could get him
to dance.
I am grateful for the smell of him in my hair
I am grateful to look around my life
to see pieces of him
everywhere.
I am grateful he trusted me
and grateful he lusted for me
There is no man in the world
that could make me feel more beautiful.
I am grateful that our love was real.
I am grateful he risked as much as I did
I am grateful he knew what love meant.
I am grateful for his compliments and concern
and for those smoldering glances
that just made us burn.
I am grateful for the time in his kitchen,
in his bed,
for the quiet moments when he'd lay
his head on my chest.
I am grateful he saw in my eyes
how much I loved him.
I am grateful he let me get close enough
to touch him.
I am grateful for his ability
for his shyness and his sincerity.
I am grateful he's manly
that he's brawny and brainy
I am grateful for his handsome, strong thighs
for all those breathless,
intoxicating sighs.
I am grateful for those spellbinding blue eyes.
I am grateful he let me cry.
I am grateful for his time.
I am grateful he accepted my flaws
and that he saw my worth
despite it all.
I am grateful for his help
I am grateful he let me
see himself.

I know that I haven't always seemed so
that my own issues and insecurities
made that impossible to show.
But I have forever wanted
him to know.
I've done the worst job
of showing my gratitude
by being defensive
and having an attitude.
But all I wanted in this lifetime
was to make it all up to him.
To show him just how thankful
I am
for him.
