Guardian Poem by The Jester

Guardian

One night I lay upon the floor
The carpet cold against my back
And out the finger-printed window
Sky of silent, stretching black.
But on this night, above my bedroom
Staring straight to where I lay
The perfect sight, and I can mention
None more awesome to this day.
My head was set upon a pillow
As I stared, my breath grew tight
Whereas my room was cloaked in shadow
I was bathed in pale light.
And music, drifting from the darkness
Began to float into the air
Around my head, but cannot enter
None but dreams may dwell in there.
Sonata to the flawless beauty
Favours me from towers high
Melody and blissfullness
Growing drowsy in my eye
The song begins its final tolling
Our meeting will be over soon
But now I'm honoured, as I slumber
Guarded by a watchful moon.
