Guiding Light Poem by Dale Mullock

Guiding Light

I’m adrift, floating in my boat,
trapped like hungry fish in a moat.
No land in sight, no coast, no shore,
just the sky and waters galore.
You’re probably feeling so alone,
worried that I did not come home,
and if only you knew,
then maybe you’d come to my rescue.

But wait, I see shadowy sands,
I blink, not sure if I’m in wonderland.
Then I knew you had guided me,
at night even this far out to sea.
For I have reached this blessed isle,
and I cannot resist a quiet smile,
and I just wish that star was you.
The star winked, my wish come true!
