Gulf Shores Beach Trip Poem by JOHNNY COBB

Gulf Shores Beach Trip

The loud roar from the Gulf of Mexico
awoke me from my restful sleep at four.
I walk out into the breezy darkness
as waves continue pounding at the shore!

I readily recognize Orion
plus, Polaris and the Big Dipper too.
Time to count my blessings and meditate
after a seafood dinner at Lulu's.

Seems like I have the whole beach to myself
as I stare at stars in the Southern sky.
Flashes of lightning are in the distance;
a thrill to see a shooting star go by.

Later that morn, a young boy who's fishing
caught a catfish, then tossed it to a crane.
The gleam in that bird's eye just seemed to say
'go ahead and catch me a fish again'.

I walked and talked with the Southern Rambler
as she photographed debris from the sea.
A suntan lotion bottle from Moscow,
a fridge and barnacled bamboo were seen!
