Gypsy Soul Poem by Aphrodite Anastasia Menegaki

Gypsy Soul

Rating: 4.0

Fight it if you can, deny it if you dare,
But never, my love, will you escape my passion's lair
Stone walls and water moats friends are not to gypsy souls
Cast a spell, let the siren sing; who orders and who controls
Forbidden wishes and sins all in your midnight dreams
Is it your rules and fears or my spell that wins?
Resist, my dear, and I'll bring down your walls
Turn away, but your body will answer my calls
A witch, an illusion, a sin, or a woman fierce
Do your worse and my arrows your heart shall pierce
Your pulse; my tambourine, I'll make your soul sing
Savour in desire, forget your name, betray your king
Oh no, love, it's not my spell you lost your mind from
Nor your rules and fears you try and hide from
Nor the wine, nor the dance that changed you
It's stone walls and moats who mislead you
It's your demons that for long had caged you
And a gypsy soul's love, at last, has freed you

I had been thinking of gypsies all day today, and wrote an article too, and here comes a beautiful poem on the gypsies! 'It's your demons that for long had caged you And a gypsy soul's love, at last, has freed you' - loved these concluding lines!
