Happy Hens Poem by Alistair Graham

Happy Hens

White plastic
cup of copper pennies
sitting on my desk

I count out
five and twenty coins
for hen eggs;
legs burlesque

I add one pound,
a golden coin,
to total up the bill

for six free range
from laughing stock;
smallholding,
up the hill
